Emu Boot FAQ

Everyone knows what Uggs boots are, but what is Emu boot? Some say that they are just fake Uggs; others say that they are just as good as original Uggs, just cheaper. I wrote this post to avoid the confusion and to answer the most frequently asked questions about Emu.

Are Emu just fake Uggs?

First of all Emu are nor fake Uggs; not even close. Emu Australia was found in Australia in 1994. Just like Uggs, Emu boots are made of high quality Australian sheepskin. They have been pretty popular in Australia for quite awhile and now they are becoming very popular not only in the United States, but in Europe as well.

Some people like to say that Emu boot is a Chinese Ugg fake, because it is made in Chna. These people probably don’t know that most Uggs boots are made in China as well.

What does “Emu” mean?

Emu Australia got its name from emu bird, which is a national bird in Australia and is pronounced “eem-you”. According to Emu official website, emu bird reflects the company’s values: it is resourceful, proud, can move forward at vast speed and does not take a backward step.

Are Emu worse than Uggs?

Some people say that Ugg boots are much more comfortable and much better than Emu. Others say that Emu are more comfortable and that they don’t really care for Uggs. I have both and it is a matter of preference. I think both of them are equally warm and the style of classic boots is almost identical. The insides of Ugg boots are not as fluffy and Emu boots, but in my opinion Ugg boots are softer inside.

The price of Emu boots is definitely better that Uggs, so if you are not sure which ones you want, I suggest going to a store and trying them both.

Is it true that unlike Uggs all Emu boots are waterproof?

Emu boot are water resistant, but they arenot waterproof. You have to apply a waterproof spray to them?

Is the leather on Emu boots fake?

No, Emu boots are made of suede leather.

Can you wear Emu boots if you are allergic to wool?

Probably not, because the insides are 100% merino wool.
