How to Spot Fake Designer Shoes on EBay

EBay is a great place to find knockoff closeout shoes or handbags; however you have to be aware of fake designer shoes, bags and clothing, which some dishonest sellers are trying to sell.

It is very important to look at seller’s feedback before buying something. The higher the feedback score, the safer your transaction. It is a good idea to actually read the feedback as well. We once bought something from a person, who had 50+ positive feedback. Fifty is not much, but the deal was hard to beat and I thought it was safe enough to trust this seller. Well, we paid money and… never got our product. When I looked at the feedback later, turned out that all of it was from sellers. So this person just bought 50+ items (very cheap, as we later discovered), earned feedback and then massively scammed people. He “sold” 100+ items within a week (again, he just offered an awesome deal, so people couldn’t resist) and then disappeared. We lost $50 and couldn’t fight it through eBay, because we paid via money order.

Pay attention to where the seller is located. Ninety percent of all fake designer shoes and handbags come from Asian countries (Hong Kong, China and Singapore)

Read the listing carefully. If you are buying designer clothing, and a seller claims that the designer item has no tags, because it came directly from the factory, hit the back button. Designer manufacturers never sell their items directly to eBay sellers.

Also, if a seller claims that this is a sample item and therefore doesn’t have any tags, stay away. Most sample items have some type of sample tag.

Many fake designer shoes are listed as ABC “style” or ABC” designer inspired”. Many people mistakenly think that “ABC style” means that ABC designer actually made it.

Use common sense. If the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Thank you for these tips. eBay is great, but you have to be careful.

I am afraid to buy from eBay. I would rather pay more, but be sure that I am getting real stuff and not cheap fake junk.
