Are Ugz Boots (or Ugg boots) Still in Style?
Almost every year fashion experts and Ugg-style haters say that Ugg boots, or Ugz boots (as some people call them) are not going to stay in style much longer. Nevertheless, years go by and we still see thousands of women (and men) of different ages and statuses rocking Ugg boots as if they didn’t hear the rumors that Ugg boots are not that cool anymore.
I have to admit that at first I was one of the Ugg haters. I was saying that the boots are ugly as sin and that I didn’t understand why in the world people would spend a fortune to look like dorks. Now looking back I am thinking that I was probably just too greedy to buy myself a pair since looking like a dork for the sake of fashion has never stopped me before.
Calling Ugz boots ugly helped me convince myself that I really don’t need to spend $200 on them. Besides, just like many fashion advisors I was convinced that they will go out of style very quickly.
I changed my mind after trying Uggs just once. They were indeed the warmest and the most comfortable boots I have ever tried. Ugly? Well, they are not pretty, but they are not as ridiculously hideous as some people (haters, like I used to be) like to say. Now that I have a pair of Ugz boots (and a pair of Emu, which are very similar), I don’t think Uggs are going to disappear any time soon. Why? Because most people in the United States care more about comfort than fashion.
If you disagree, go to Walmart or grocery store (not a high-end) and look what people are wearing. Sneakers were never meant to be pretty, but people are wearing them anyway. Oversized tee shirts and hoodies have been in style for years, but everyone is wearing them. So if these stay, why Ugg boots should go away?
Yes, they seem expensive, but since they are very durable and 100% sheepskin, the price isn’t that bad. You can get Ugg boots for $120-$130 (if you do your search well), or you can buy Emu boots for under $100 without any effort.
So if you were still debating whether or not you should invest in Ugg or Emu boots, I say, go for it. Your feet are going to be in love.
